Sleep Health Guidance

Sleep Health is an Adventure

A common misconception about sleeping is that we are simply unconscious when we lie down for bed—nothing could be further from the truth.

Although our consciousness shifts while we are sleeping, we do not just “turn off” once the sun goes down. Instead, our brains are busy processing everything that happened to us during the day and exploring new ideas. Our bodies are releasing hormones, changing temperature, and processing our most potent social and emotional information from our entire lives. Environmental factors, both external and internal, have huge factors on the quality of rest we are able to achieve. It’s a complex and beautiful process. Learning more about sleep is key to understanding yourself better and improving many elements of your life.

A Roadmap to Rest

Learning about how our nighttime consciousness shifts and interacts with our daytime consciousness affects everything we do. The process of rest is always changing and evolving with our lives, and I’m excited to explore this journey alongside you. It is my deepest intention to support you in discovering and listening to your body’s own wisdom around rest.

Working together we will co-create a ‘restful roadmap.’

I will provide you with evidence-based sleep science, somatic and art processing exercises to promote rest, and consistent accountability and trauma-informed inquiry throughout your journey.

Guided By Real-Life Experience

At any given moment 70% of adults are currently dissatisfied with their current sleep. Dagny is no stranger to the ups and downs of sleep anxiety, chronic insomnia, and sleep difficulties offset by traumatic events and nightmares. Along with evidence-based best practices, there is also guidance from someone who has been there.

Embodied Background

As a dancer, movement facilitator, and somatic teacher—Dagny emphasizes more than just following good, scientific sleep hygiene tips. Her trauma-informed approach to nervous system regulation looks at how the whole system can safely wind down towards bed each night.

Financially Accessible

Here at The Art of Rest, we believe education around quality rest and fostering tools and skills around achieving that rest should be accessible to as many people as possible. Our sliding scale fee and scholarships make this work widely available.

Evidence-Based Tools

As a trained sleep researcher, Dagny has a unique ability to unpack cutting-edge sleep research in a way that is approachable and honest. She can help thoughtfully unpack the scientific limitations of what we collectively know about modern day sleep science, as well as help find a unique and targeted approach to bolster programs like CBT-i.

Creative Components

As a unique approach to sleep health work, Dagny is dedicated to creative and artistic practices to emphasize how we approach not only our restful nights, but also the nights where we have difficult feelings around not being able to sleep or rest as we deserve.

Ongoing Support

Our goal at the Art of Rest is to help you build your own toolbox for success, and we also pride ourselves on a model that easily allows for people to check in specifically around certain times of year for a tune up to listen to "what is the kindest things I could do for my body right now?"

What Our Clients Say

Amy T., Missouri

“In one session, Dagny’s sleep health guidance gave me tools that I continue to use months later. She reminded me to be kinder to myself no matter what type of sleep I was getting, and sure enough, the sleep finally came.”
